HowMeGirl...Who?

Hola!!

My Name is HowMeGirl, and I know who I am, but as for you guys, well, you don’t. So here is my explaination!

First off, I am Scottish, German, Croatian, Czec, Cherokee, and 100% American. This obviously doesnt matter to you too much, but just in case you were wondering if I was Korean or asian, the answer is no. That is, unless you believe that the cherokee people came from Asia. Anyway, you have probably guessed from the title of my blog that I LOVE, korean dramas. There is alittle more to me than that, but not too much more lol. I’m actually a fairly new Korean Drama addict, meaning I havent watched too many, so bear with me. I’m going to try to get as into it as I can, because frankly I am sick and tired of being bored. I found something I like, so I’m going to really get into it. If you have suggestions or advice I’ll gladly take all the help I can get.

I am the captain of a colorguard (but my cologuard is small lol). I love different cultures, and music in different languages are totally my thing. I love music in different languages; it reminds me that no matter how different people are they basically sing the same. My room is my masterpiece, I decorate it with things I get at the flee market (my mom brings me to flee markets ALOT). I love children, I’ll probably become a teacher when I grow up. I also love hairpieces (even though I dont wear them alot…:) Yes this is all random, but I want you to have some kind of grasp on who I am. Well, in that case, I might as well also admit that I get lost easily. If you tell me to get something for you I will return hours later with something completely different than what you wanted, that is, if i don’t forget all together. I love my shoes! They arent heels or fancy-schmancy shoes. They are called blow-fish shoes and they have a checkered tongue. Saddly they are getting old :(

hmmm…other things about me….eh, you can just ask if by some chance you care who I am.

Protect the boss!!

This show was about a woman who gets a job as a secretary to a bratty, hard-to-please guy.
I just finished this. I loved the main-girl lead, she is exactly what I look for in a character. She is strong, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. What was strange about this show was that usually I like to skip parts about minor characters, but I absolutely loved and enjoyed every single part of this show. I thought all the characters were endearing in some way, and I didn’t find myself disliking any of them or any of the scenes they were in. This show was just really nice to watch, there was one misunderstanding but the plot went on without too many bumps in the road. I actually liked both guy, and that doesn’t happen to me a lot, usually I like the one she is obviously going to end up with, but I fell for both of them this time.

I loved the scenes when she was hanging out with her friends too <3. The bromance between the two cousins was soo fun to watch too! There was a lot of connections between the characters and they all ended up being friends no matter what. Each and every one of them were part of this big family, and I loved that.

The main-guy-lead actually depended on the girl, which is opposite of what normally happens in a drama. I thought that was really refreshing. He was so cute though!!! His facial expression, everything, so adorable!! Every time he hugged her he was so cute. So endearing. I even thought his phobia was cute! I’m weird huh?

Favorite so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This series made me swoon!! so the main-lead-guy decides to room in a girls house, because apparently her father was some big architecture person. Because of some circumstances the girl thinks he is gay, so he starts pretending he is gay. They really establish quickly from the beginning that he isn’t gay though lol when he wakes up with a girl.

The house was pretty cool, I have to say. I dreamed one night that I lived there. When I found out the main-lead-girl’s history in the house my heart just broke to pieces. The beginning was sad, because the girls best friend marries the main girl-leads boyfriend. Then the bitch tries to come back and live with the main girl-lead, I mean, the nerve of some people!!

The chemistry between them was pretty amazing too. He was so cute, and affectionate, and she was soo loveable. At some points I had to stop the show and scream into a pillow because I couldn’t take the cuteness of it all. When he was all concerned when she had her period I melted. I really couldn’t take it, then he rubbed her stomach for her, and I was a puddle on the ground. I loved when he tried to teach her to cook and be a good woman, it was so hilarious!! And when he first found out she thought he was gay his face was so hilarious, ahahaha!!! The picture they took as a family were cute too! Sometimes they would look at each other and, jeez, can you tell I love romance dramas?? My favorite part was when he was like “screw this I love you” and kissed her. Loved all the jokes.

He tried to make her into a good woman at one point, and to do this he made her stay in a closet and would trick her into coming out. It was wicked funny. He would also get her food, and she could guilt him into anything. They watched movies at one point and were eating pop corn, so cute. He brought her to a party to show off to her ex that she was a good woman (her ex married her bestfriend while still dating her) boy did she show him. She ended up getting her period and she made him go get her pads, it was hilarious! but he did it, and it was so sweet. When she got cramps he was so worried that he went to get her medicine, made her tea, and rubbed her stomach.

The kiss scene was amazing. She was dating her ex again in the hopes of getting revenge, and then she realized she loved her "gay-friend" and she is just like, "i cant do this anymore!" and he walks right up to her and says "game-over" and kisses her then and there. So amazing.

lol when she finds out he is not gay she feels it is only right to kick him out of the house, but he keeps coming up with excuses to go back inside and see her.

Cute moments

Stars Falling From The Sky!

Love!! The kids in this really made the show, not only because there wouldn’t have been much of a plot, but because they were just so darn cute! All the scenes with them were so fun to watch. I loved when they went to the grocery store to eat free-samples!! I want to do that! When they went to the carnival/theme park and said they had never been to one before I couldn’t help loving them more. The kid that kept going into the main guy-leads room because he slept-walked was adorable. The baby took hold of my heart every time he smiled. Every one of the kids had someone they were really rooting for, the oldest boy was rooting for the sister, and then the boys picked a guy they wanted their older sister to date. The baby was the only exception, he liked everyone and brought everyone together. Well, I suppose that depends on your version of liked, because he pooped on people a lot.

This is random, but I really liked the place that the kids slept. It was like a couch in the ground or something. I would love that bed!! There was also that part, where the kid said his mother said the strongest star belonged to her husband no matter how much the kid wanted the star to be his. Then the kid told the main-guy-lead that the main-girl-lead called the biggest star his, I liked that <3 I really need to start using names, its just that the unfamiliar Korean names confuse me sometimes. I’ll work on that. :)

The main lead was strong, and hard-working, I mean she tried, but I couldn’t help but think she was a little pitiful. I don’t like pitying people tooo too much in dramas so that bugged me a little. The main-guy lead was so funny, especially when he started playing the video games on the computer when the kid left. He was too concerned with his brother though, that kind of ticked me off. I know he loves his brother and everything, which is all right and well, but I just couldn’t take it. The end in the hospital almost made me cry. This show was an easy show to watch, the romance was there, but it wasn’t overplayed or anything like that. The plot was good, but not the greatest. My heart goes out to whoever made this show.

Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy

In this a rich woman falls down the stairs one day and loses her memory. She is helped out by a girl who is passing by. Then the grandma regains her memories and lets the girl live at her house where, low and behold, there is a cute (slightly bratty) boy the same age as the girl!! :O

I loved, loved, loved this one! I like the idea that someone isn’t after someone else for money, but is actually sincerely kind-hearted. The girl was a good character because she tried hard. Eun Sung (the girl) also had a lot to deal with family-wise. The mix up about her father was heart-breaking, and her dedication for her brother was really admirable. You know I hate when characters come close to what they are looking for and then just pass them by, IT DRIVES ME INSANE. I start yelling at the computer screen because I cannot take it! That happened a few times during this show…suspense and romance is what this is all about.

Of course the romance made me melt too! Lol, but I have a hard time watching a Korean drama that doesn’t have good romance, so that’s kind of a given. The boy turned into a man! That happens a lot in Korean dramas. I felt really bad for him too though, when I found out why he was spoiled, god, it suddenly made sense. I really need to start writing these directly after/during watching these dramas, and once I catch up I swear I will!!! I’ll also re-watch some of these series and write about them again! I will prevail!

Any questions I will answer :)

Boys Over Flowers!!

I loved. I watched it a while ago so I can’t really remember too much about it (time to watch it again? J ) Basically though, it is about a girl who gets into this school for rich people and gets on the bad side of the famous F-4 group. She ends up falling for the leader of F4.

This show really made me wonder just how back bullying is in Korea, I mean the desk scene and bike scene were terrible!! Nothing like that would ever even come close to happening where I am from. I thought the main guy lead was a bit of a jerk at times, but he eventually got better. I ended up falling in love with the lead guy, especially during the beach scene when they had dinner together.

The F4 was kind of surprising to me too, it just didn’t seem realistic. The violinist who always wore white? Kim hyun joong!!!! Loved him! I started listening to his music a little. That “because I’m stupid” song pulls at the heartstrings every time I hear it. This show also had incredible music!! I got the cd off itunes <3. Geum Jan Di (the main girl who is the dry cleaning daughter) was really cool too, nice and headstrong. I really liked her family too! Her little brother was absolutely adorable. When Gu Jun Pyo comes over to visit them and eats with them and hangs out with her family its soo cute!

I might have to watch this again, definitely, then I’ll write something more in depth. I keep watching you tube videos on it and remembering stuff. This is crazy!! I was so hooked on dramas after this one! I was so obsessed! I HAD to find out what was going to happen, and now my mind is coming up a little blank, this is why I need this website. I’ll be back on this, mark my words.

Coffee Prince!!

In this drama a girl pretends to be a boy in order to get a job with some guy. She starts out pretending to be the guys gay lover so he doesn’t have to deal with dates. Then they open a coffee house, and start to fall in love. The guy is really upset because he thinks he might be gay, and the girl doesn’t want to tell him that she’ a guy because of a bunch of ridiculous reasons.

As you can imagine there is a happy ending (which I love). There were a lot of nice scenes here, but it got much better in the end when he figures it out and is like ‘thank god ur a girl and I’m not gay.’ I liked the chemistry between all the workers, it was nice to see people joking around, you know? I don’t think the main girl looked like a boy at all, but whatever? Also, in the coffee they made pictures with the crème which was sooo cool. In one of the coffee’s they made a bear and it was a masterpiece. I also learned what a barista is. The only thing I didn’t like about the coffee shop was some painting that some woman painted, it was ugly, seriously, I’m not just saying that because I disliked the painter.

As for the main girl, I liked her, she had a lot of pride in being the breadwinner of her family. There was this one scene, when she was asked what her dream was and she said she wanted to live happily with her family, and then she said “these days I want to make good coffee.” I thought that was cool, an in the moment type of attitude. It made me think, these days what do I want to do? I’m one of those people who is always focused on the future, and even for the future I’m never sure what I want to do. I recommend this drama, it was entertaining.

Lets catch up with the dramas I have watched, shall we?

Well, I’ll start with the ones I semi-disliked, because I want to get them over with so I can start putting down the GOOD dramas :)

Playful Kiss

Alot of people are going to kill me for disliking this drama…I watched this because it was popular. I had just watched Boys Over Flowers, and I thought the guy was cute. kim-hyun-joong <3. Anyway, it was also a high school type-show, and I thought it was weird to watch anything with older people in it, because I didn’t think I would be able to relate to it (I was wrong). I hated this one because the girl was weak, and no matter what she did she didn’t get any stronger. Nothing worked out for her, and it was annoying. The guy was mean, expressionless, and I couldn’t see why she like him (of course I still think he was incredibly cute, and every time he smiled I died). I finished this one simply because he was cute, and there were a few times (however slim) that I could appreciate certain other aspects of it. One thing I don’t understand is why in a lot of dramas people get married so quickly. I mean, marriage is a big thing, it affects your whole life, how could they get married so young and so quickly? If you disagree I beg you to try to change my mind.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

I never finished this one, so I don’t know if I can really say I disliked it. This was the first Korean drama I ever attempted to watch. I didn’t really understand dramas at this point so I just thought it was kind of weird and off. I thought this drama was cute, but there was some things I didn’t like about it, maybe I thought the guy was too mean? idk but this one wasn’t really my thing, so I didn’t finish it. It almost turned me off of dramas, which would have been a big mistake. Luckily, I always give things a second chance.

Dream High

There was really no romance in this one, which I could probably have gotten over if the story line was better. The biggest problem I had with this one was that the main character was mean and disloyal to her friend. Then her friend became her enemy. I just didn’t like the girl, she was self-centered, stuck-up. Maybe if I had finished it she would have changed by the end, but I just couldn’t finish it for some reason. I’m not really into watching people strive to become singers or performers I guess. There was one part I did like about this movie, when the main character sang some weird Japanese birthday song to a guy that she apparently sang to him when he was a kid. I really liked the song and I just thought it was really sweet. I’m sorry to those who loved this series, but I couldnt forgive what she said about her friend.

What is this blog about??

This blog is about Korean Dramas!! Duh!
For years I was getting bored with hollywood movies and the american tv Shows. I found myself even getting annoyed at what I was watching. I couldn’t imagine why! My friends were going through the same thing, butthey resorted to british tv series like Dr. Who and Sherlock. I have nothing against those shows, I might even watch them some day, but I’m not really a scifi person. Anyway, then online one day I discovered Korean dramas! It was amazing! Suddenly I had something to look forward to when I came home! I found that when I was watching these shows a smile would just creep up on my face (freaking out my family), and I had to actually try in order to contain my emotions towards the shows. No show from Hollywood has ever caused me such feelings (i dont want you to think I’m totally against hollywood, they have their moments, however slim, too).
After watching Korean Dramas im never going to be able to sit through another terrible TV show or bland movie, you cant even compare them!! All I see in the movies that I was forced to watch now is something media made for pure entertainment that teaches me nothing, and wastes my time, fake emotions, no connections, cheap tricks (sex, violence..ect.), corny lines, low-level jokes. How was I ever supposed to relate to things like that?? I finally know why watching tv and watching movies has bored me to death for the last few years. No wonder I’ve gotten annoyed with them!! SO, what I’m trying to say here, is I wanted a place to rant, I wanted a place to write down my thoughts. I doubt anyone will ever read this, but if they don’t thats just fine with me. I’ve let myself get excited about something, so I made a blog. :)
